Lithium iron phosphate- LiFePO4

Lithium iron phosphate- LiFePO4

Lithium iron phosphate is an electrode material for lithium-ion batteries. Its chemical formula is LiFePO4 (LFP [3]). It is mainly used in various lithium-ion batteries. Since 1996, NTT in Japan first revealed the olivine structure lithium battery cathode material of aympo4 (a is alkali metal, M is CoFe, a combination of the two: lifecopo4), in 1997, John B. Goodenough and other research groups also reported the reversible migration and desorption of lithium from LiFePO4.
The olivine structure (limpo4) published by the United States and Japan has attracted great attention and attracted extensive research and rapid development. Compared with the traditional cathode material of lithium ion secondary battery, spinel LiMn2O4 and layered LiCoO2, limpo4 has a wider source of raw materials, lower price and no environmental pollution.
The application fields of lithium iron phosphate mainly include:
(1) energy storage equipment
Energy storage equipment of solar energy and wind power generation system, ups of uninterruptible power system, used in conjunction with solar cells as energy storage equipment (BYD is already producing such batteries);
(2) electric tools
High power electric tools (wireless), electric drills, weeders, etc;
(3) light electric vehicle
Electric locomotives, electric bicycles, recreational vehicles, golf carts, electric boosters, cleaning vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), the goal for the next 2-3 years;
(4) small equipment
Medical equipment (electric wheelchair, electric scooter), toys (remote control electric aircraft, cars, boats);
(5) other small electrical appliances
Miner’s lamps and implantable medical devices (lithium iron phosphate is non-toxic, and lithium battery can only meet the requirements of lithium iron), replacing the application of lead-acid, nickel hydrogen, nickel cadmium, lithium cobalt and lithium manganese batteries in small electrical appliances.
